Meetings are held at least monthly to listen to the needs of youth who utilize the services and to make recommendations in order to improve services for their peers.
Cultural Enrichment Programs
An Hispanic Cultural School (facilitated by the Lawrence Schools in cooperation with the Center) on Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Center. The program serves Hispanic Youth 6-12 years of age.
African-American Cultural Awareness
Workshops, trips, guest speakers and films are utilized to develop African-American cultural awareness involving interested youth. Black History Month is celebrated during February.

Youth Employment Services — Provides youth with job preparedness workshops and job placement services in the public and private sectors. Job development is facilitated in the local Five Towns area. Contact: Bertha Pruitt Ext. 263

Youth Environmental Leadership Project — Funded by the Levitt Foundation, assembles and trains a team of youth leaders/organizers who identify problems in the local environment and seek solutions for them.
Youth Advocacy Program (YDP) — serves youth up to 20 years of age and provides individual, family and group counseling, education and court advocacy for youth involved in the juvenile and criminal justice systems, crisis intervention, emergency housing for runaways and homeless youth and referrals. Contact: Bertha Pruitt ext. 263 Youth Violence and Gang Prevention Project — Funded by the Nassau County Youth Board - is intended to reduce the growth and proliferation of youth gangs and violence through community mobilization and prevention/intervention strategies, including outreach, individual and group counseling and training of youth.
